Some stores sell shoes.
Others protect childhood.
Karen’s 4or Kids belongs to the second kind.
Our story begins in 1947, when the Blaine family opened a small children’s shoe store built on one simple belief: growing feet deserve care, patience, and expertise. What started as a neighbourhood shop quickly became a trusted destination for generations of families—because the Blaines didn’t just sell shoes, they fitted them.
For decades, Jack and Arnie Blaine carried that tradition forward, mastering the art of proper fitting the way it was meant to be learned—hands-on, in person, and with care. Measuring wasn’t rushed. Advice wasn’t generic. Every child was treated as an individual, because every foot tells a different story.
When we stepped into the business in 2020, we didn’t come to change that legacy—we came to protect it.
Jack and Arnie personally taught my husband John and I (Debbie) the craft they had spent over 40 years perfecting. Not just how to measure a foot, but how to read it. How to notice pressure points, growth patterns, and the subtle signs that tell you whether a shoe will support a child’s development—or work against it.
That’s why Karen’s 4or Kids is not just a shoe store.
We are a fitting store.
Every child who walks through our doors is properly measured. Every pair of shoes is chosen with intention. We carry multiple widths, specialty sizing, and solutions for hard-to-fit feet—because comfort isn’t a luxury for kids, it’s a necessity.
A properly fitted shoe doesn’t just prevent blisters or sore toes. It helps support balance, posture, confidence, and healthy growth during the years that matter most. When kids are comfortable, they move freely. When they move freely, they grow strong.
And when parents leave our store, they don’t leave guessing.
They leave informed, confident, and smiling—just like their kids.
At Karen’s 4or Kids, we’re proud to carry forward a tradition that spans generations. The names may have changed, but the promise hasn’t.
Because since 1947, one thing has always remained true:
no child leaves without the right fit.
